My Beginnings!

I thought I would give you a little bit of a background about how I became a writer. From the time I was a little girl, I have loved books. My mom would read to me every night, and once I could read on my own, I loved all the adventures and worlds I could explore and have adventures in. Reading then turned to writing my own adventures. I loved my English/writing classes throughout school. I started writing poetry and short stories even in grade school. Being an only child and not having that many real friends I could do things with, I lived in my imagination where I could do and be anything I dreamed of, and go anywhere I wanted to go. My dolls and toys were my friends along the way, too. As a mom myself later on, I also read nightly to my children and tried to encourage them to love books and writing as I did. One of my daughters did write poetry and kept a journal, but others went different creative routes. To this day, I still love to read, and I take in everything that happens around me in case there is something to write about. Publishing my first book came late in life because I have led a very full and active life. My husband of 35 years and I have raised seven daughters and one son, and we now have 24 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. My husband is terminal with metastatic cancer, and we have been fighting it for many years now. His metastasis started two years ago. One day, he mentioned that I should write our story because ours has been a unique and crazy life together. So, unbeknownst to him, I took it to heart and wrote our story, had it published, and then surprised him with it on his birthday. He was very surprised, to say the least. And that is how my first book, "I Love You More," came to be. This is not simply a romance, but it is full of our adventures, happy and rough times of integrating two families, ups and downs of a three-decade-long marriage, and dealing with the dreaded "C" word.
